We will hold our annual end of year event on Friday December 13th from 6.30-8.30 pm at the Preston Reservoir Bowls Club, 75 Leamington Street, 3073.
Here we’ll celebrate the achievements of all our players and teams and thank our coaches and officials. Food will include chicken, salad and hot chips and soft drinks. There is a cash bar for adults, and we’re working on a special guest appearance.
This date is the Friday evening before the very last Saturday of netball for the year, when the grand finals will be played for U13s-U20s. Please mark it in your calendar now – we’ll send out updates and info about how to register in October.
Darebin holding a club tournament, where each club enters teams who play round robin in their age group. The tournament will be on Sunday October 20th, at the Charles Mutton Netball Courts, Tyrrell Crescent, Fawkner 3060
Currently, Parklands will be entering at least one U13 and one U15 team. If your player would like to take part, or you think we can enter another team, please contact Bonnie asap by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The annual trials for Darebin Representative teams will take place on two Sundays, 13th and 27th October, from 11.15am-1.45pm.
Rep teams are selected from across all the clubs playing at Darebin. They play at Parkville (currently Riverside) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and at various Sunday tournaments through the year. Many of our Parklands players enjoy and have benefited from playing on Rep teams. Motivation and willingness to learn are the key to selection, especially for the younger age groups. Registration forms and other info are below and at www.darebinna.vic.netball.com.au.
Our annual Pizza Night and AGM will be on Friday 18th October, from 5.30-7.00pm. As last year, we will hold a pizza night straight after training, combined with our annual general meeting.
Pizza night is an informal way to catch up together, feed all our players, and introduce friends to Parklands, encouraging them to think about joining next season.
Pizza, soft drinks and drinks for parents will be served from 5.30pm onwards (for U9s, U13s and U15s when they finish training) and from 6.00pm for U15s, U17s and U20s. The AGM will begin around 6.15 and will hear brief reports on the club’s development, finances, and coaching. Nominations for the club committee will be confirmed at this meeting. Just like last year, we’re looking for new members to be involved, to continue developing the club and sharing out the work. This year it has worked really well, so please think about joining in.
You might also ask your players during the holidays whether they would like to invite any friends along for pizza night, and whether you might be involved in the committee – it’s not a big time commitment, and plays a vital role in making netball possible.
